Actors! Theatre makers! Playwrights! Dancers! Storytellers! LET’S MOVE!
In this Physical Theatre Workshop, you’ll learn to use your body and voice to create deep, dynamic, and expressive characters. Physical Theatre is defined here as telling stories through heightened body and voice to create stylized ensemble-driven work. Physical Theatre is specific, intentional, and a sh*t ton of fun!
Some techniques/styles we’ll pull from are: Viewpoints, Suzuki, Grotowski/Artaud, German Expressionism, Laban, Commedia Dell’Arte, and Lecoq.
This workshop is for anyone wanting to create and move. All are welcome . . . actors, theatre makers, playwrights, dancers, movers, and the curious.
The workshop will be led by Miriam BC Tobin of Wyrd Plays and SCRiB LAB. There will also be warm-up and theatre exercises led by Elizabeth Dilley of Radiant Pilates, Alina Rios of Verbooom, and Juli Brown of Band of Bards.
Be prepared to move, sweat, stretch, breathe, and roll around. Wear movement clothes you can truly move in. Bring water! You’ll be barefoot or in socks.
This workshop is 6 hours long with a lunch break.
Registration is $30 for one or $40 for two people together (scholarships available).
