The Body of Our Poetry (session 5)

Saturdays 8/20 - 9/17
9 am - 12 pm PT (12 - 3 pm ET)

In this 5-week course, we’ll explore all the ways that poetry is a body of creative expression. Teacher Pamela "Jaz" Banks will show that poetry has a language, and a foundation. Students will learn, explore, and come to know the body of their own poetry. Each session will consist of readings of poems, creative writing prompts, sharing time, open discussions, and lessons on craft elements. There will be an open mic in the final session.

Students will walk away from this course knowing not only their own story but their own voice as a creative writer and poet. Each individual's poetic voice is needed as a creative fingerprint and thread of a beautiful, necessary tapestry. Because poetry is also meant to be heard out loud, students will learn how to hear, hone, and honor the rhythm of their writes.

All sessions are on Zoom. Each session is 3 hours with built-in breaks.
